Previous Experience:

Julian has been involved in digital media since 1997 when he started building websites with a copy of HTML for Dummies and joined the Huddersfield Examiner classified advertising department in search of a career in journalism. 

 

He moved up to the editorial floor and became content developer for the Huddersfield Examiner's website during Trinity Mirror's development and national rollout of their 'New Media' platform - the icNetwork.

 

In 2001 he became Editor of the Examiner's lifestyle magazine and spent three years writing, editing, photographing and designing, also working on leisure gudes and promotional material.

 

In 2005 he set up an art business, curating a successful fringe exhibition in Holmfirth Artweek and shortly moved into video production. 

 

Julian joined West Yorkshire Sport in 2006, job-sharing the Communication and Events role. He became Communications Manager for both West Yorkshire Sport and South Yorkshire Sport and both organisations became Yorkshire Sport Foundation in 2016.

 

In 2014 he worked with Bradford MDC on Tour de Yorkshire comms/ 

 

He also sat on the Active Partnership National Organisation’s Marcomms steering group, representing Yorkshire and sharing best practice.

B.A. (Hons) Philosophy,
B.Sc. (Hons) Textile Technology,
CIM Level 6 Diploma in Professional & Digital Marketing. 

 


Personal Sporting Interests:

 

Julian took up mountain biking shortly after joining WYSport - which shows there really is hope for anyone. 

He started running a mile a day when the This Girl Can campaign launched in 2005.
